CARSON CITY — Nevada fourth-graders can win a virtual meeting with Gov. Steve Sisolak for their entire class in Travel Nevada’s Discover Your Nevada Kids flag contest. The competition is part of youth component of the Discover Your Nevada campaign, promoting in-state travel and exploration.

The flag competition invites students to celebrate their favorite things about Nevada and share what they know in pictorial format through a personalized Nevada flag design. Fourth grade is the school year in which social studies curriculum covers Nevada history.

While the winning flag won’t replace the state’s official flag, it’ll earn the student and his or her entire class a virtual meeting with the governor.

Entries are accepted through Nov. 25. Get started by visiting the online contest website, DiscoverNVKids.org/flag-submission. There, students will find a flag template and submission details.

Travel Nevada plans to expand the DiscoverNVKids.org project to include other activities and games to encourage students to learn about and take pride in their state. Nevadans also can visit DiscoverYourNevada.com for information on places to visit around the state.
