State Police hiring event scheduled for Dec. 4

CARSON CITY–Nevada’s State Police are looking to fill some of the 160 sworn officer positions open statewide by hosting an open testing and hiring event. The event is Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 a.m. at the Stewart Facility Small Gym at 5500 Snyder Ave. in Carson City.

Those selected at the event will be eligible to participate in the February 2022 academy training.

State Police positions through the Department of Public Safety include Highway Patrol troopers, parole and probation officers, Capitol Police, fire marshals, and investigators.   

The hiring event will include a presentation along with a physical fitness test and a written exam. The six-part fitness test includes an agility run, timed sit-ups, a timed 300-meter dash, and a timed one-and-a-half mile run/walk.

Candidates are encouraged to register before the event by contacting a recruiter at careers@dps.state.nv.us, but walk-ins are welcome. The event is Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 a.m. at the Stewart Facility Small Gym at 5500 Snyder Ave. in Carson City.
