LAS VEGAS—A national search for a new leader for Nevada State College was approved this week by Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) Board of Regents. The college’s current president, Bart Patterson, plans to retire at the end of his in June 2021.

In its announcement, NSHE said that the decision to take the search to the national level was met with “overwhelming consensus from the NSC community.” That community– faculty, staff, students, alumni, foundation board members and community members—met Oct. 1 during several forums to discuss hiring goals for the position.

The next step in the process is appointment of members from key stakeholder groups to the ad hoc Regent Nevada State College President Search Committee. The search committee is likely to meet by February 2021 and select finalists for campus visits by April 2021.
