BLM kicks off 2021 photo contest
CARSON CITY—The Bureau of Land Management is hoping Nevadans will take a lot of photos of the state’s landscape between now and Sept. 15. It has partnered with TravelNevada, the state’s tourism bureau, for the 2021 BLM Nevada photo contest.
“Nevada is a state full of wide-open spaces, stark landscapes, and rugged backcountry,” Brenda Scolari, director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, said. “Protecting our beautiful scenery is supremely important in ensuring future generations enjoy our land as much as we currently do. We are looking forward to seeing how photographers bring our beautiful landscapes to life through their camera lenses during this year’s photo contest.”
BLM officials say they haven’t held the contest for several years, but anticipate a good number of entries into each category of the contest.
There are four contest categories, including:
- “People exploring Nevada”: images featuring people on BLM lands across the state, including volunteering, working or recreating.
- “Recreators with know-how”: Capture an adventure that shows you #KnowBeforeYouGo and know how to recreate responsibly.
- “Weird & Wild”: Anything goes, as long as it’s weird and wild. That could be wildlife, wilderness or wildflowers.
- “Employee:” BLM and TravelNevada employees get to submit photos as well.
Information on the rules and how to submit photos can be found at BLM Nevada’s website. Entries are due by Sept. 15, 2021.
