CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Forestry on Monday issued fire restrictions banning all fires on all state lands in Clark County. The restrictions add to existing burning bans in place by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.
NDF’s restrictions will remain in effect until further notice and include all Nevada State Park and Recreation Aras in the county, including Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort, Valley of Fire, Spring Mountain Ranch, Ice Age Fossils, and Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area.
Activities prohibited include campfires and wood or charcoal stove fires, welding, smoking and using explosives. The discharge of fireworks, explosive targets, tracer rounds and steel-core ammunition are also banned, as is shooting a firearm when a Red Flag Warning has been issued.
Restrictions are also in place for off-road and backcountry vehicle or motor use without a spark arrestor and without an ax, shovel and at least a gallon of water.
Officials said some exemptions apply for those with a valid permit. Some parks and recreation areas may impose stricter rules depending on fire weather and conditions.
