CARSON CITY – A trio of state agencies alongside Amazon Web Services this week said they’d be partnering to launch a cloud computing training and certification program in Nevada that would help fill some of the thousands of open jobs in the industry.
Economic models show about 9,600 cloud computing jobs went unfilled in 2021. Professional social network LinkedIn has identified cloud computing as one of the most in-demand hard skills for the past several years.
Nevada’s Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation, Nevada System of Higher Education and Nevada Department of Education are all working with AWS to develop secondary and higher education courses for cloud computing. The program is called AWS Academy.
AWS will provide the curriculum, resources and tools for the program. The company has also committed to professional development, technical training and certification exams for program instructors.
