CARSON CITY—The Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) in March will begin collecting data on groundwater levels in irrigation and stock water wells throughout the state.
In a press release, NDWR said project, called a “well run” was part of an annual effort “to assess and monitor hydrologic conditions throughout Nevada.” The information collected helps the division to better manage the state’s water basins.
Measurements have been collected in some wells annually for more than three decades, officials said, providing robust and long-term data on changes in groundwater levels. Other wells on the list are newer and offer less historical data.
