SPARKS – The State of Nevada Math Championship has had to adjust their formula this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting this year’s event completely online. It was open to students in all grades, 1st through 12th, who live in Nevada.
Winners are usually announced at Northern Nevada Math Club’s End of Year Awards Dinner, but when that was postponed organizers chose to reveal the winners right away.
The top 3 overall winners in each grade, 1-8, and top 3 overall winners in high school are:
- Grade 1: 1st Ana Wang (Peavine Elementary), 2nd Daniel Mnatsakanyan (Coral Academy, Reno), 3rd Allen Park (Caughlin Ranch Elementary)
- Grade 2: Tie for 1st – Logan Vimalaraj (Brown Elementary) and Miles Newell (Lemelson STEM Academy), 2nd Maylene Song (George Westergard Elementary), 3rd Arush Agrawal (Doral Academy, Reno)
- Grade 3: 1st Anders Wang (Caughlin Ranch Elementary), 2nd Aiden Chen (Mountain View), 3rd Gus Hernandez (Roy Gomm Elementary)
- Grade 4: 1st Ahana Mukhopadhyay (Caughlin Ranch Elementary), 2nd Sophia Zhang (Roy Gomm Elementary), 3rd Andrew Park (Caughlin Ranch Elementary)
- Grade 5: 1st Anthony Wang (Caughlin Ranch Elementary), 2nd Melody Song (Roy Gomm Elementary), 3rd Eric Yutong Shen (Caughlin Ranch Elementary)
- Grade 6: 1st Alex Davi (Davidson Academy), 2nd Owen Chang (Sky Ranch Middle School), 3rd Harmony Chien (Swope Middle School)
- Grade 7: 1st Kagan Uz (Swope Middle School), 2nd Alex Park (Swope Middle School), 3rd Zack Giles (Coral Academy, Reno)
- Grade 8: 1st Ruby Song (Davidson Academy), Alex Choi (Clayton), 3rd John Assadian (Coral Academy, Reno)
